We have been advised that the following hotels have been affected by Hurricane Ike:
1-. Playa Pesquero is working without problems.
2-. Occidental Playa Turquesa, is open without any problems, apart from the satelite tv, which will be solved on the 15th Sept. (yesterday, so It might be working by now).
3-. Blau Costa Verde, is open with all services funtioning, the only area afected is a roof for a small section of the lobby area.
4-. Rio de Mares, is open with all servixces, but the gym will remian close until further notice.
5-. Playa Costa Verde, will reopen on the 15th October.
6-. Paradisus Rio de Oro, will open form the 1st November.
Is Melia Cayo Coco up an running after Hurricane Ike?
There was no major damages to Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo or Cayo Santa Maria. However the water supply was affected and the hotels were close for few days. Now everything is back to normal.
Melia Cayo Coco Hotel is still close as its buffet restaurant that was temporarily built by the beach was flattened by the winds.

my husband and i have just returned from the Melia Cayo coco , we were there a week before the hurricane ike throughout the hurricane and a week after, we married in our hotel monday just gone, the hotel was never closed, we were restricted on water for showers to 2hrs in the morning and three hours of an evening,plastic plates, knives and forks were used justed to save what water they did have for the showers, we had a wicked time the hotel staff couldnot have done enough for us, ok it wasn’t the five star that it should have been but under the circumstances they coped very very well, we have no complaints. even when our wedding was postponed and we were told we may not get married as the causeway was broken and the minister was unable to cross from maainland, we had decided we would stay another week if push came to shove, but the hotel pulled through after four days with water restrictions and skelton staff, everything was back to normal as if nothing had happened, our wedding went ahead 5 days later, and was excellent we could not have wished for a more perfect day, we cannot wait to go back, hotel 10/10, staff 110%, food 10/10, was clean friendly and a very beautiful place.highly recommended.

the melia coyo coco the beach side resturant was not flattened the roof is made with the palm tree leaves and in 2 areas they were blown off in the wind all of the mess was cleared up on the tuesday after ike and the buffet resrturant was moved into the top floor of the lobby area whist the roof is being repaired
the staff and the rep were excelllent from day 1 of our holiday until the last day of our hoilday i wish people would not hype up the damage caused by the storm and i would recommend this hotel to any one who is travelling to coyo coco i have never been on a holiday where i have been treated so well at no point of the hoilday did we feel dissatfied with the hotel or the staff even when ike stuck and i will be returning in the near future a big thank you to all of the staff at the malia for making our holiday and wedding it was perfect 100%

hi has anyone been to playa pesquero since the hurricane and how bad is it and is it all up and running again. does it still look as good as it did before the hurricane.
Any information on Brisas Guardavalaca would be appreciated – Not sure what to expect as some review say it was shoddy and facilities were poor before Ike.
