Foreign credit cards and managing your money in Cuba.

Posted by gtrotter2008 on August 16th, 2011 under Travel Tags: , ,  •  No Comments

Over the past few years, Cuba has become very particular on what forms of payment it accepts. For the most part, you’ll probably find your debit card doesn’t work when you visit – and credit cards that have connections with the United States are also unlikely to be accepted.

UK credit cards are accepted in Cuba however, they must have the visa, cirrus or plus signs on the card. Most will be accepted if you are looking to withdraw money from local cash machines, but there is still a very strong chance you will not be able to buy any goods with it. Unfortunately though, the same rules apply for debit cards that have the Visa logo – they won’t be accepted at ATMs.

With all this in mind, it’s advisable to make sure you have your cash or travellers cheques sorted out well in advance of travelling – and this way you may be able to budget your spending money a little better. If you do happen to take Pounds Sterling or Euros with you, you can always exchange them at the airport. US dollars are no longer used in Cuba and if you want change them you’ll be charged 10%.

If you do have any doubts as to whether you can expect your credit card to be accepted in Cuba, the easiest thing to do is ask your bank or credit card provider. If they’re unsure, you’re probably best to stick to travellers cheques or cash – and make your money is clean and free of rips or marks, because they carefully check them when you’re over in Cuba.

Cuba stopped accepting the US dollar for cash transactions back in 2004. This was due to President Bush restricting Americans visiting the country and vice versa. For example, Americans were only allowed to visit immediate family members every three years instead of annually. However, earlier this year, his successor Barack Obama said more people will be allowed to visit the country if it is for religious, educational or cultural visits. Obama is keen to support Cuba’s desire for freedom, and it is hoped this will go some way to repairing fragile relations between the two nations.

Although it may seem like a hassle travelling to Cuba due to the long list of regulations on credit cards and concerns about safety, many people find it to be a rewarding experience. One cheap way to stay there is find accommodation with a local family, which also gives you the chance to really experience true Cuban culture. Of course, you can always start today by learning some Spanish and trying out some of the fine Cuban restaurants and cafés we now have in the UK.

Depending upon where your travel plans take you, you may find yourself on Malaysia Airlines. According to independent travel organization Skytrax, this once financially burdened airline is now ranking among the top airlines worldwide. Malaysia used to belong to the British Empire years ago, and the history of Malaysia Airlines goes back until then. A small Southeast Asia airlines, that gradually developed into a huge commercial carrier, first began in 1937 under the name of Malaysia Airways. When Malaysia became an independent nation in 1963, the airline’s name became Malaysian Airlines Limited and later, Malaysia Airlines, the name it’s now known by. Over 100 destinations around the world are served by this airline today. There are many different places it flies in addition to Asia, such as Rome, Paris, and London as European flights, but also places like Istanbul and Johannesburg. The finest airlines of the world are few, and Malaysia Airlines is now considered one of them, because of the many transitions it has gone through the last few decades.

Besides Skytrax, in 2010 Malaysia Airlines was heralded as the “World’s Leading Airline to Asia” by World Travel Awards. This is in addition to the awards bestowed on Malaysia Airlines by other organizations. All of these prestigious awards just prove that Malaysia Airlines is striving to keep customer satisfaction at the head of the list of what they do best.

While Southeast Asia is now a popular destination for business travelers, and its modern cities offer lots of exciting culture and nightlife, this part of the world is also famous for its beaches. You can take Malaysia Flights to many of the most beautiful beaches in the world. An example of this is an island nation that belongs to Thailand, known as Phucket that has a reputation of drawing people who are looking for beaches. Island hopping will allow you to find many of the exotic beaches in the region. If you are looking for the right beach, you will want to check out the 104 islands of Langkawi. The lush landscapes of these islands, along with the blue waters and beautiful, spotless beaches come right out of a picture. There are even more beach locations than these that can be flown into by Malaysia Airlines.

Malaysia Airlines is famous for providing comfort and high quality service to all passengers, whether you’re traveling Economy, Business Class or First Class. Just as an example of what Malaysia Airlines does to make your flight more pleasurable is the diverse variety of entertainment they offer you. When you are traveling on an airline that features long flights, this feature is enormously welcome. They offer the standard movies and television programs, but they also have a variety of music you can listen to and even games that can be played by more than one player. Of course, it depends on the flight you are on and the passenger class you have chosen, but Malaysia Airlines goes out of its way to guarantee that each passenger has many different options to keep from being bored on long flights. To sum things up, the people who travel on Malaysia Airlines – in Asia or elsewhere – hold the airline in high regard for the peerless comfort and convenience they offer their passengers. Malaysia Airlines has garnered numerous awards in recent years due to its first-class hospitality and its passion for catering to the needs of its passengers. If you take into consideration all the different locations to which Malaysia Airlines travels – from Auckland to Los Angeles and many points in between – you will surely find a time to use Malaysia Airlines for one of your trips.

Searching For An Aviation Forum and what to look for

Posted by Morton Meintjes on July 30th, 2011 under Travel Tags: , , ,  •  No Comments

The field of aviation is a very interesting topic to talk about whether you are in the field or not. An aviation forum is one where people who share this interest, whether in this profession or not, can voice their views and experiences to others.

There are a variety of chat rooms devoted to this and they range in topic from the very professional and technical sites, all the way down to the part time traveler. Membership is free on these websites, and all you need to do is choose a user-name and password, and you can start conversing with people on the topic boards.

If you do not want to commit yourself to a particular forum right away, you can always just read the forums. Sometimes people will do this in order to get an idea of the topics discussed, as well as the decorum practiced on that particular website. Just like having a conversation with someone in real life, you don’t want to talk to someone who is rude or uses foul language.

Most of the time though, these types of boards have strict rules of decorum that users must abide by. Everyone on these sites want to talk about airplanes, airports, and everything else that has to do with flying. You will very seldom, if at all, see arguments and name calling on these websites.

You may find it amazing how many different topics there are to discuss on these sites. There is one site for instance that is devoted solely to the topic of sleeping in terminals. You can also find chat rooms that discuss the laws that aviators have to abide by, and other technical topics that deal with flying. Even if all you want to do is learn more about aviation in general, every site available will help you do just that.

Want to find out more about aviation forums, then visit Morton Meintjes’s site on how to choose the best aviation forum for your needs.

Hawaii’s Top Exports

Posted by Keola Kawanako on July 26th, 2011 under Travel Tags: , , ,  •  No Comments

Hawaii is a unique location. It is located within the middle of the Pacific and it is as far away from a continent as a place may be. It is home to numerous distinctive flora and fauna, and it also produces numerous special items.

Would you imagine that one of Hawaii’s major exports is bottled drinking water? Well it is true. However this bottled water is different from any other bottled drinking water in the world. It doesn’t originate from a refreshing mountain stream. Rather it originates from the bottom of the ocean. Water, out of melting snow in Alaska, travels in an undersea current to Hawaii. This journey requires over a thousand years. Several firms extract this water, eliminate the salt and bottle it. Much of this one of a kind bottled water is sold in Japan, but folks from the U.S. are starting to purchase it too.

An additional item that Hawaii is known for is anthurium flowers. These South American flowers had been brought here within the 1800s and have turned out to be a huge component of the Hawaiian economy. Many fresh varieties have been created by local growers along with the university and they are shipped from Hawaii to many different areas of the globe.

Hawaii is, in addition, well-known for Macadamia Nuts, particularly chocolate coated ones. The Macadamia Nut is originally from Australia, but just like the Anthurium it has turned into a significant part of the local economy. These nuts taste incredible when dry roasted and lightly coated with sea salt or when covered in chocolate.

Kona Coffee is yet another superb product from Hawaii. Only coffee that is grown within the zones of North and South Kona can be labeled Kona coffee. Many factors make Kona Coffee special. The first is the fertile volcanic soil that it is raised in. This gives the coffee a unique aroma. The second is the specific micro-climate of the Kona district. Sunny days and afternoon rain showers give the coffee an extremely clean flavor.

Try Exercising To Cope With Stress

Posted by Dr Paul Johnston on July 12th, 2011 under Travel Tags: , , , , , , , , ,  •  No Comments

It is just about assumed that stress is today a part of life and something that we won’t be able to avoid. Individuals may suffer for several years and there are numerous things in life that cause it. It could be troubles about money, family relationships or a multitude of other reasons. Stress may be caused by a person in your life such as a relative or co-worker. The consequences of this can be detrimental to your health and your mental well-being and yet there are methods to fight this if we want to. Working out can be beneficial in the battle against stress and this is an area we will now study. Do not think like you are the only one who has a tough time locating solid information about cialis online portal. It is easy to have the feeling like you want to give up when you cannot quite seem to come across important information. The funny part, maybe, is there is ample content on the net, but you are still not sure if the sources are trustworthy. No person has been immune to this because it is just the nature of the online world, regrettably. The following information concerning cialis online portal is well known and easily referenced.

One of the reasons exercise is beneficial is that whilst being active, it is actually difficult to think about your problems when your mind is engaged in whatever type of workout you are doing. In comparison to something like meditation where you are actually relaxing to quiet the mind, by being physical you are basically leading your thoughts into another direction. Exercising can help with that disquiet you usually get when you cannot seem to settle or keep your mind quiet. Erectile dysfunction or impotency is a cause of distress with adult men. It can create a lot of issues in your life. Stop worrying take action. There is a safe system of curing yourself . Simply have a peep into cialis online.

In determining what sort of exercise to do, it may seem obvious but try to find something that you enjoy. You will want to feel excited about it as opposed to it becoming another thing that stresses you. There are so many choices available to you and it is just a matter of giving it some thought and then taking the first step. Being the member of a local gym is something to consider as is deciding between being inside or outdoors. Relaxing is made more effortless when other individuals are involved so anything of that nature could be good.

The benefits you will gain by making exercise part of your life are the fact that you will feel better about yourself and any effects of stress will be reduced. The changes in how you look will help how you feel on the inside. Occasionally outside of your exercise regime, you can plan what you wish to achieve with your fitness going forward so that you concentrate on positive parts of your life. The situations that induce stress can have less impact as you gain inner strength from reaching the goals you have set. We want to say a fast word about our conversation re cialis online portal. As always, though, much of what you determine you need is totally reliant on what you want to achieve. The most innocuous details can sometimes hold the most crucial keys as well as the greatest power. No matter what, your careful consideration to the matter at hand is something you and all of us have to do. Here are several more equally important highlights on this important topic.

It is also the case that chemical substances called endorphins are created when you exercise and these can have a positive effect on your mood. This feeling will oftentimes come about after a workout when you feel more lively and this is reflected in having a more positive mindset. If you can make an effort to remember how this feels when you experience it then, if you are having a stressful time, you will know you now have a way to beat this.

Exercise can give you the ability to fight stress and arrest the harm it can do to your health. The amount of data and content regarding cialis online portal overwhelms a lot of people when they begin researching it. All we desired to do is demonstrate what is available but still useful at the same time. It would be mistaken to ever have the notion that the story ends right here, though. You can achieve wonderful results once you find out where the real advantage lies. What follows after this is the kind of material that most will probably have no idea about.

Diving In Taba

Posted by Rob Atherton on July 11th, 2011 under Travel Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,  •  No Comments

Situated in the north of the Gulf of Aqaba, it is one of the quieter resorts in Egypt. Although you won’t find the larger marine life such as manta rays or sharks, Taba offers plenty of amazing reefs that are home to an incredible range of marine life.

In contrast to the busy dive sites of Sharm el Sheikh, you will often find that yours is the only dive boat at a site in Taba. This is one of the attractions of the area and is an excellent alternative to the popular reefs of Jackson or Shark & Yolanda at the other end of the Sinai.

It doesn’t take long to get to the dive sites in Taba and this means there is normally plenty of time for a 3rd dive of the day. The site that attracts most boats is Farun Island (aka Pharoah’s Island). Back in the time of the crusades, the Saracen Saladin who was Richard the Lionhearts nemesis built an old fort and lookout post on the island. As well as being a popular dive site, it is also the destination for snorkelling trips. Nonetheless, it’s a lovely setting and an easy site to dive.

Taba is a paradise for underwater photographers. The sites are generally quite shallow and there is a superb array of marine life just waiting to be captured on film (or more likely, on memory card). One of the more unusual creatures found in the area is the Frogfish. It is a type of Anglerfish, has a face only a mum could love and is fairly immobile. They are ambush predators and an attack can be as fast 6 milliseconds. Their mouths move so fast that no other animals can see it happen.

All sorts of other creatures such as Moray eel, colourful nudibranchs, clownfish, lionfish, sea stars and shrimp can all be found in abundance around Taba. Unfortunately, night diving is not permitted due to restrictions as the borders with Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia are all so close. Its a pity as night dives would surely be as impressive as diving during the day in Taba.

The Egyptian resort of Taba Heights is better known as a golf resort but it offers superb diving.
