Posted by | Posted in Travel | Posted on 03-08-2011
Nestled along the Pacific Ocean, Solana Beach welcomes you warmly with its sunshine and brilliant blue skies. This beautiful oceanside community, with its small-town charm, is the perfect year-round destination for fun in the sun. Well known for its gorgeous coastline and scenic beaches, this family-friendly community has something for everyone.
With four main beaches making up Solana Beach, it is no wonder why this is a community of surfers. Each beach offers a new landscape while surfing the exhilarating waves. With plenty of community organized surfing events, anyone can enjoy a bit of friendly competition and/or participate in raising funds for a good cause. There is hardly a dull moment to be found on a beautiful, sunny day with waves pleading for you to come out and play.
Solana Beach is also home to the 6th Annual Fiesta del Sol. This two day street festival is a wonderful experience for the entire family, celebrating the history and cultures of San Diego residents. Taking place August 13-14, 2011, at Cesar Chavez Park on the San Diego Bay, you will find authentic costumes, live music, delicious food and many vendor booths to peruse.
Enjoy an afternoon at the fabulous Farmer’s Market where you will find some of the best tasting organic vegetables and produce, as well as fragrant flowers, which are all grown locally. A delicious variety of juices, breads, pastries and chocolates are also available and make a tasty lunch. Be sure to visit the crafts area where you will find many beautiful items such as: handcrafted jewelry, clothing and gifts. Taking place every Sunday from 1-5 pm on Cedros Avenue, this is a delightful way to spend an afternoon.
If you are looking for that one-of-a-kind item such as handmade jewelry, a hard-to-find antique or a distinctive piece of furniture, Cedros Avenue is the place to be. Cedros has been called “the Avenue with Everything” because of its eclectic and artistic ambiance. Along with the Farmers Market, there are many unique stores that you just cannot see all in one day. You will never know what you will find in this historic and delightful shopping district.
Affordability, variety, and a rare location leave no excuse to miss out on experiencing what Solana Beach has to offer. The average home has 2-3 bedrooms and is equipped with views to die for. With so many options and the wonderful value of each rental home it is best to choose one quickly before another lucky visitor does.
Keeping up with your urban city life while still being able to kick back and enjoy a small community is one of many great reasons to come to Solana Beach. With the family friendly activities that never seem to stop you will be wondering why you considered anywhere else. It is very likely you will want to come back to catch up on anything you may have missed during your first visit. Fortunately, Solana Beach is always providing new and exciting ways to entertain guests. If it is a seat at the farmer’s market, a surf lesson in Fletcher Cove or a beautiful sculpture on Cedros Avenue, a reservation is waiting for you!
